Making an appointment

To book an appointment with a Talking Cure therapist please telephone 020 7317 8332 (24 hours) or e-mail us at contact@talking-cure.com. A therapist will usually be able to see you within 5 days of your having first made contact with us.

What happens next?

Telephoning:
The person you speak to will be able to arrange with you a time, date and the location for your first appointment.

Assessment: This first appointment is called an "initial assessment" session - it will last for around an hour and it is a chance for you to begin to describe your situation, for the therapist to assess what is the best way of helping you, and for you and the therapist to discuss this together. There will be plenty of opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have. Attending an initial assessment session places you under no obligation to attend any further sessions, but you will be offered further sessions if appropriate.

Answerphone: If you reach our answerphone please do leave a message - we will always return your call as soon as the next therapist is available. We assure complete discretion when we call and will not leave messages on landline phone numbers but may leave a message if it is a mobile phone number you have given us.

e-mail: If you prefer not to be contacted by telephone then your appointment can be arranged entirely by e-mail. Please be sure to include your name and to state your availablility - eg. whether you prefer a daytime or evening session - to assist us in offering you a suitable appointment time.

Fees

Our standard fee policy is outlined below.

Fees

Initial assessment for individuals - £105; for couples - £130
Further sessions for individuals - £95; for couples - £120
Place in a group - an individual initial assessment is required first (£105), after which a place in a group is charged at £65 per session.

These fees quoted are for sessions taking place during our hours of peak demand (that is, for appointments on week days between 5pm and 11pm and at any time over weekends). A reduction of £5 per session is offered for appointments that take place during off-peak times.

Payment

When booking your first appointment we take details of a debit or credit card of your choice in order to reserve your session for you, but we will only debit your card for the session fee in the event that you do not attend the appointment. For initial appointments we accept payment at the appointment by debit card, credit card, or cash. Method of payment for ongoing appointments is agreed with your therapist, and can include bank transfer (eg. by online banking). If you choose to pay by credit card we add to your bill the 3% credit card payment processing fee that the bank charges us.

Cancellations

Payment for all booked sessions is due in full unless we receive at least one full week's advance notice of cancellation.

Reduced fee clinic

Our reduced fee clinic provides daytime appointments (ending 5pm) with senior trainee psychotherapists who work under the supervision of an experienced registered psychotherapist. We also offer a limited number of reduced-cost therapy placements with therapists who are already fully qualified.

Initial assessment for individuals - £85; for couples - £110

Cost of further sessions is determined during the assessment session and is based upon a consideration of individual circumstances.

Private Health Insurance

If you have private health insurance you might like to check with your insurers whether you are covered for our services.
